Browns Receiver Jail Bound?

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Dante Stallworth may be headed to jail for quite a while. The receiver will be charged with DUI manslaughter on Thursday, April 2nd. Stallworth is expected to surrender himself to the court that same day. Stallworth faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Stallworth who rounded a corner and hit a construction worker who was heading home after his shift early on the morning on March 14th. Stallworth was well above the state of Florida's legal limit of 0.08, the blood alcohol content was 0.12 for the star receiver.

Stallworth had signed a hefty contract of 7 years 35 million before the start of the 2008-2009 season.

This could possibly be the end of Dante Stallworth's career in football. I'm sure Cleveland has no choice but to void the rest of his contract. Be prepared for many public apologies and lots of community service hours to come from Dante Stallworth.

Calipari Heading To The Bluegrass State

ESPN.com reports John Calipari has announced he's leaving his Memphis basketball head coaching job and accepting the Kentucky Wildcats basketball head coaching vacancy.

The Kentucky Wildcats must have all the money in the world. John Calipari said to make him an offer he couldn't refuse, and 3 days after paying Billy Gillispie 6 million to hit the road, that is exactly what Kentucky did.

The contract is the richest contract in college basketball history. The numbers are staggering. 8 years 31.65 million. Kentucky also had to give Memphis $200,000 dollars to buyout Calipari's current contract. It gets better, Calipari also received a 2.5 million dollar signing bonus for becoming a Wildcat.

I said on a recent post regarding Kentucky on who the man to be was...the man is whoever the head coach is at that school. It doesn't matter if you're vacating the position, or filling it.

Sheffield Released By Tigers

MLB.com reports that the Tigers have released veteran outfielder Gary Sheffield.

With the addition of outfielder Josh Anderson from Atlanta yesterday the Tigers really didn't Gary Sheffield anymore.

Josh Anderson seems to be the 4th or 5th outfielder now, after all-stars Curtis Granderson and Magglio Ordonez. Ryan Raburn will play left field and Marcus Thames (now that they will keep him) will be the big bat off the bench.

North Carolina and Michigan State Punch Their Final Four Tickets

The final four is set:
Michigan State
UConn
Villanova
North Carolina

Michigan State dominated the 2nd half of play against Louisville Sunday.
North Carolina hit their stride early and left Oklahoma in their dust. Oklahoma never led in the entire game.

Both teams today posted double digit wins.

Is anyone else's bracket done for? I know mine is. I have one team in The Final Four, and that one team, I do not have in the championship game on April 6th.

Rebounds Play A Big Part For UConn

UConn's size proved to be too much for Missouri. The game was close throughout but the edge of UConn's 45 rebounds was all they needed. Missouri only pulled down 26 rebounds. Missouri had no answer for UConn's big men Jeff Adrien and Hasheem Thabeet who pulled down 10 and 13 rebounds, respectively.

Keep dancing UConn.

Bon Voyage Missouri and great season. It wasn't a complete wash of a season, they do have the 2008-2009 Big 12 Tournament trophy for their mantle.

Nova and Pitt

Free throws win games. It's a simple, but true statement-ask Memphis in last year's championship.

Villanova at the charity stripe: 22-23
Pitt: 21-29

Final Score: Villanova 78 Pittsburgh 76

If you missed this game, you missed a real thriller. I would recommend flipping it to ESPN for the highlights. I am not going to ruin it for you because I wouldn't do it justice, flip on Sportscenter. My only problem was at the end, how does Pitt allow Villanova's Scottie Reynolds to do what he did and in the amount of time he did it in. It was a little Gonzaga-esque from a week ago. DeJuan Blair had a fantastic game only to be ended by a bone headed play and not stopping Scottie Reynolds with 00.5 seconds left. Step up, move your feet, and win the game in over time

Hats off to Scottie Reynolds and Dante Cunningham for their performances in knocking off Pitt and completely screwing up the rest of my bracket.

The Man I Want To Be...

Billy Gillispie

According to ESPN.com Billy Gillispie has no hard feelings towards the University of Kentucky.

OF COURSE THE MAN DOESN'T! The University of Kentucky had to give him a 6 million dollar buy out just to fire him. I wouldn't have any hard feelings either if I was paid 6 million dollars just to be fired. I'd never look for another job again. UK had very high expectations going into the season with their 2 main studs Patrick Patterson and Jody Meeks, but it isn't Gillispie's fault the season was a dud. He can't get out there and play defense for them or control Patrick Patterson's nagging injuries.
It just goes to show you the pressures of winning. If the team wins, the players get all the glory-the team loses, everyone blames the coach.

Bon Voyage Billy Gillispie and enjoy your fat pay check on your way out.

Why Is The NFL Draft Such A Big Deal?

The NFL draft isn't until the summer.....last I checked it had barely turned spring.

I understand why the baseball draft isn't popular-60+ rounds.
The NBA draft is a big deal, but I understand that one. The NBA draft is only 2 rounds and is over in 3 hours. The analysts on TV do not make the NBA draft a big deal until the draft nears.
The NFL draft has 7 rounds. I understand that the first day is the biggy and gets most of the attention. The sports websites such as ESPN, Fox, and NFL.com, all have mock first round drafts and player by player coverage on who will be the first over all pick: Mark Sanchez or Matt Stafford. The mock drafts all change from week to week, so why follow the latest draft news so closely? I can put up with the same sports story in moderation just like anyone else, but the NFL draft is way over done. If it were up to me it wouldn't even be mentioned until June. I am content with finding out who my favorite team will draft, WHEN THEY ACTUALLY DRAFT THEM. I will care who is the first overall draft pick WHEN THEY ARE ACTUALLY DRAFTED.

On a lighter note I haven't heard much out of Terrell Owens, Brett Favre, Manny Ramirez, or A-Rod lately. Thank the lord.

BitterSWEET 16

Sweet: if you're Louisville, North Carolina, Pitt, Villanova, Missouri, UConn, Michigan State, Oklahoma

Not So Sweet: Arizona, Kansas, Duke, Gonzaga, Memphis, Purdue, Syracuse, Xavier

Down Right Embarrassed: Arizona

Great Personal Performances: Blake Griffin (shocker)-Oklahoma 30 points, 14 rebounds
Tyreke Evans-Memphis, 33 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists

The Sweet 16 turned into more of a Bittersweet 16. The teams you expected to dominate-did. Arizona, what a joke. This game either showed exactly why Louisville is the number 1 overall rated team OR exactly how fast a lucky team can hit their wall. Arizona is an excellent team, they have 2 future first round picks, but Louisville turned out to be too much. If I'm Clark Kellogg I'm upset with CBS for sending me to Indianapolis to cover this sorry game.

Villanova routs Duke by 23. Duke clearly did not show up in this one. A team that relies so much on their perimeter shooting can not afford to go 5-27 from 3 point land. Hats off to Villanova (who shot equally bad from beyond the arc). Duke had no answer for Villanova big man Dante Cunningham-something Duke doesn't have. Cunningham brought down 11 rebounds. When is coach K going to wake up and go recruit another Christian Laettner, Elton Brand, or Carlos Boozer. Two years in a row now Duke has been bounced from the tournament due to a lack of a big man presence.

The other games were all very good and had some excellent moments.

Elite 8 begins Saturday kicks off with UConn vs. Missouri at 4:40pm
followed by
Pitt vs. Villanova at 7:00pm
